Music

Music is one of God’s greatest gifts to the world. It has been a basic social and cultural activity since earliest times. All people have been created in the image of the Creator and therefore have the ability to create. Music transcends all barriers of communication and it is a means of giving form to our inner feelings.

UMEI music instruction is “classically based”. Rudimentary theory, history, ‘well weathered’ choral selections and standard orchestral pieces make up the core of our music program. The Music Program meets the educational objectives of the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines. Four-part singing is one of UMEI’s most outstanding traditions and this should never change. We believe that singing is fundamental to all music making and our other musical instruments are an extension of our voice.
