Leamington Christmas Parade

UMEI entered the Santa Clause parade this year again. This year we had a flatbed trailer that we filled with our students. They were dressed up as Biblical characters, acting out Christmas carols. Everyone had a wonderful time laughing, and spreading Christmas cheer.

Stratford

Recently our senior students travelled to Stratford to see Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. They all had a wonderful time, exploring Stratford and watching the play.

2011 Math Fair a Success!

Congratulations to all students who contributed to the 2010/2011 Math Fair!

The students, from classes in Grade 10, Grade 11 and Grade 12, created dynamic displays and interactive activities for the rest of the school and the public to experience.  The purpose of the Math Fair is to engage students in mathematics and make connections to fun and interesting applications in the real world.  The exhibits were extremely well done, with topics including finding functions in amusement parks, modelling quadratics at rock concerts, calculating statistics in game shows, applying mathematical models to health care, and using linear systems in nutrition planning.  Congratulations to all the students for making math fun!

Ground Beef Fundraiser Returns!

UMEI students are now selling lean, high quality, Ontario All Natural AAA, organic, hormone-free beef from grass-fed cows!  This excellent product is being sold for $3/pound and each student makes $1/pound to use towards school trips this year.  This fundraiser runs ALL YEAR, and therefore students are able to substantially reduce their trip costs.

Please support our students by purchasing ground beef.  Deliveries will be every 3 weeks, starting Friday Oct 8.  You can arrange delivery of your ground beef with the student you are supporting.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. Thank you for your support!

The Rocket Launch was a Success!

The crowd watches with amazement as a rocket launches.

The school and supporting community gathered on Sunday, October 17, 2010  to watch our Grade Eleven Physics Class launch their rockets.  The weather was perfect and all of the rockets made it off the launch pad.  Some flew to dizzying heights before deploying their parachutes while others came to earth in spectacular fashion.  A good time was had by all.  Way to go, Physics class!
