Basketball

The basketball teams participate in WECSSAA league play.  The league is divided into three tiers.  UMEI Christian High School competes in Tier III and has had good success at that level.  The teams also travel to tournaments both locally and to OCSSAA (Ontario Christian Secondary School Athletic Association) events in Southern Ontario.

In November 2008 the Senior Girls captured the “Single A” WECSSAA Championship. This is the first time in the 63 year history of the school that UMEI contended for the championship game. The game was played in the Lightning gym on Nov 7 with UMEI defeating St. CeCeile 28-18. The girls hosted the Blenheim Bobcats on Nov 12 for the SWOSSAA Championship but were defeated 54-19 by a talented offensive team. Top scorer for UMEI was Melissa Wagner with 11 points. Congratulations girls and coach John Fittler for an amazing season. We look forward to next season with all players returning.
